Poly Varnish Polyurethane Sealer

How to Use – Artisan Poly Varnish

Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust, oil, grease, wax or residue before application. Proper surface preparation is essential for strong adhesion and a flawless finish

Stir thoroughly before use, as matting agents naturally settle in water-based polyurethane products.

For raw or porous surfaces, dilute Poly Varnish with up to 30% clean water for the first coat to improve penetration and adhesion.
For subsequent coats, dilute up to 20% with clean water for smooth application.

Apply using one of the following:

• Damp Artisan Super Sponge (for a brush-free, streak-free finish)

• Quality synthetic brush

• Short nap roller

Work in the direction of the grain and apply thin, even coats.

Allow each coat to dry thoroughly between applications. Apply additional coats as required for increased durability and protection.

For an ultra-smooth result, lightly sand between coats using 600–800 grit sandpaper, then remove all dust before recoating.

When sealing dark or highly pigmented colours with Matte Poly Varnish, we recommend:

• Applying one coat only, and

• Tinting the varnish with a small amount of your paint colour

This prevents lightening, hazing or ghosting, ensuring colour depth is preserved.
